Stuart Metcalfe BHSI SM
We are sorry and deeply saddened to announce the passing of Stuart Metcalfe. He passed away at home from a stroke on the 24th January 2021.
Stuart came to YRC as a young man and forged a career as a successful rider and instructor both in the UK and abroad. He was well known for his quiet yet kind and understanding manner which was adored by his loyal clients and friends. He was determined to be the best instructor possible for his riders to ensure they achieved their best possible results. His commitment to his riders, rain or shine was faultless. He was known for always being the first one to offer a kind and genuine word of support to any of his fellow equestrians that were struggling.
Behind the quietly determined young man also lay a really fun side determined to entertain. Those that remember the YRC pantomines will remember Stuart performing faultlessly in a tutu to a pre arranged choreography only to be stood up by the rest of his dance troop, but Stuart did not miss a cue and performed with courage right to the end.
He will be missed by all at YRC past and present. It was a fitting and moving tribute to see both his regular clients come together at what would have been their regular session with Stuart to commemorate his memory and ride as if he was still there in the arena with them.
While he will no longer stand in the arena with his riders, his spirit, lessons, kindness and commitment will ride on with them.
Rest in peace Stuart.
Gone but never forgotten.
