From
the North:
A1 Southbound. Turn off at the A61 to Ripon. Follow the A61 around
Ripon towards Harrogate. Approximately 2 miles out of Ripon after
the first straight stretch of road there is a sharp bend to the
right and then down the hill to another sharp left hand bend at
which there is a turning to the right to Markington.. You will also
see a brown tourist sign for the Yorkshire Riding Centre on this
bend. Continue into Markington and after the second pub on the left
called the "Yorkshire Hussar Inn" there is a small cross roads where
you should turn right - signed to Yorkshire Riding Centre and Fountains
Abbey. Yorkshire Riding Centre is less than 1/4 mile on the right
hand side.
From
the South:
Take the A1 or the M1 North. Eventually the M1 will merge with the
A1 around Leeds. Continue on the A1 to Junction 48 (Ripon/Boroughbridge).
Follow the signs to Ripon. When you get to Ripon at the roundabout
take the first exit following the bypass in the direction of Harrogate.

From
the West:
Either take the M62 across to the M1 and then follow the directions
from the South or join the A59 across the Pennines. Eventually you
get to a roundabout outside Harrogate with the "Travellers Rest"
pub on your right. At the Roundabout turn left onto the Otley road
towards Killinghall. Follow this road until it ends at a T-Junction
with the A61. Turn left onto the A61 towards Ripon. Continue on
the A61 over the roundabouts at Ripley. After about three miles
there is a pub on the right called the Red Lion. About half a mile
after this is"Wormald Green" there is a turn to the left signed
to the Yorkshire Riding Centre and also Markington. Continue into
Markington and after the second pub on the left called the "Yorkshire
Hussar Inn" there is a small cross roads where you should turn right
- signed to Yorkshire Riding Centre and Fountains Abbey. Yorkshire
Riding Centre is less than 1/4 mile on the right hand side.
By
Train:
The nearest train station is Harrogate. From London the trains run
to either York or Leeds from where you can get a taxi or connect
by train to Harrogate. There is a taxi rank outside Harrogate train
station. For other train stations please contact the centre to arrange
a taxi to meet you.
By
Air:
The nearest Airports are Leeds/Bradford or Teeside (both approx
1 hr). Manchester Airport is approximately 2 hours away. Yorkshire
Riding Centre can arrange a transfer by taxi on your behalf. Please
ensure you give flight numbers and times of arrival as well as the
number of passengers when arranging collection from the airport.
